What are 'floating reservations' anyway?
|
You may have noticed that sometimes customers could not book a longer stay in one go, even though room capacities were available. Previously, we used to 'nail' reservations to specific rows in our TERMINO sheet. This led to the fact that free days could not be efficiently combined. Thus, a customer could find a longer continuous term with the competition, while not with us. That is over! Now we work with the room type, not a specific room (a specific row in Termino). This means that our calendar automatically offers all available dates, and the customer can easily book longer stays and the offered capacity is used to the maximum. |
Want more reservations? Our solution: Just turn on floating reservations
|
By activating this new feature, you allow the system to accept a reservation for a room type, even if one specific room is not available for the entire stay. What does this mean in practice? The system/calendar will no longer say 'NO' to the customer, but will accept the reservation and temporarily 'park' it in a new section – VIRTUAL SHEET, which we have created for these purposes. FAQ Floating reservations – Termino
It is a standard confirmed reservation that is valid. At the same time, the partner can, for their overview, place it in the main sheet to a specific room. However, this is not necessary, because the guest will arrive anyway.
The capacity for the given date is automatically reduced with the incoming reservation as standard. The same principle as when reservations go directly to the main sheet.
Unfortunately, at this moment we do not have the possibility to obtain such information in connection with notifications, and therefore the notification looks standard as for reservations from the main sheet. However, it still applies that it is a completely standard reservation and we treat it as such.
Everything works as with the original setting, only thanks to this functionality we can accept more reservations than before, because we take into account the free capacities of the room type and not free specific rooms. So if there is no longer a continuous space in the main sheet for the given room, but according to capacities there is still space for the given room type, we place the reservation in the virtual sheet and it is up to the partner what to do with it next.
It is a standard binding reservation that is valid and the partner does not have to confirm it.
No, it is always only for the same room type.
They are created automatically with the incoming reservation and as soon as the reservation is placed in the main sheet, they are automatically removed again.
No, if the partner has the ICAL function enabled, they cannot enable Floating reservations. Ical cannot work with floating. |
